TERI, Inc. can serve participants with the following special needs:
Self-Care: includes the need for assistance with toileting, eating, self-medication, grooming, and personal hygiene. Individuals who are incontinent will be accepted.
Physical/Medical Needs: includes participants who are non-ambulatory as well as those with epilepsy, blindness, deafness and non-verbal. Participants with ongoing special medical or physical needs will be considered on a case-by-case basis within the confines of our licensing category.
All participants will be referred to by San Diego Regional Center. The San Diego Regional Center will submit all appropriate collateral information to TERI, Inc. After the material has been reviewed, meetings will be conducted with the prospective participant, San Diego Regional Center caseworker, and those individuals who support the participant to discuss the program and to meet the prospective staff.
The Center for the Arts consists of two programs:
1. Community-Based Training
To qualify for participation in Community-Based Training, an individual must be able to be supported in a 1:4 staff to participant ratio.
2. Behavior Management
To qualify for the Behavior Management program, individuals must be able to be supported in a 1:3 staff to participant ratio. As outlined by the San Diego Regional Center’s procedural statement for behavior management day training programs; to be considered for this program category the client should have a Franklin Factor of 30 and above as evidenced by behaviors recorded on the CDER. If a participant has a Franklin Factor of less than 30, a behavior profile summary must be completed which outlines behaviors that preclude participation in other programs.
Additionally, individuals who display severe behavior disorders and/or have a dual diagnosis resulting in severe behavior and therefore because of their behavior problems will be unable to participate in the day program.
If there is a waiting list for services, individuals currently enrolled in TERI-sponsored programs will receive highest priority. Participants and their SDRC service coordinators will be notified by phone and/or writing regarding acceptance status.
