TERI Crimson Center for Speech & Language

Providing speech & language pathology services for all ages throughout San Diego County!

TERI's Crimson Center for Speech & Language

It is with great pride that TERI Inc announces to our families, clients, and partners our 2017 merge with the Crimson Center for Speech & Language Pathology. Crimson has provided clinical supervision at TERI’s Learning Academy since 2009, and discovered that our philosophy of working with families and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the lifespan is highly aligned.

Karyn Lewis Searcy will remain the clinical director at the Miramar location. This transition affords an incredible opportunity for TERI & Crimson to expand programs, develop innovative projects, host workshops, and further enhance therapeutic skills.

We look forward to the collaborative growth of TERI’s Crimson Center for Speech & Language!

FAQ's

  • About the Merger

The Crimson Center for Speech & Language Pathology located in San Diego has provided clinical supervision at TERI’s Learning Academy since 2009, providing speech and language supports for TERI’s K-12 students. Over these many years of partnership, our two organizations have discovered how closely aligned is our philosophy of working with families and people with developmental disabilities throughout the lifespan.

  • What services are changing/being added?

Over the next few months, we plan to add additional speech therapy services which may include group therapy/social skills; in-home speech therapy; early intervention assessment and consultation;  expanded services to private or nonpublic schools; feeding and AAC clinics;  and Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) for families or districts in the area of speech/language or adaptive communication.  Families currently accessing Crimson Services can expect their therapies to remain unchanged with the addition of the ability to access speech therapy in the North County area.  Karyn Searcy and her therapists will continue to lead the Crimson Services team, assuring continuity and quality of care.

  • Do TERI clients have access to more services now? If so, how?

Children who attend TERI Nonpublic Schools (The Learning Academy and The Country School) have always had access to speech and language as well as adaptive communication (AAC) supports.  In fact, Dr. Deanna Hughes, the Speech Language Pathologist for the Learning Academy, has worked for TERI through the Crimson Center for many years.  Speech and Language services at our schools are funded by the student’s home school district. This merger expands TERI’s current clinical services to include speech and language therapy funded through insurance or private pay, either in home or in a clinical setting, and including adults as well as children.  One of the reasons why TERI is so successful in helping those we serve is that we are able to provide comprehensive care and treatment under one umbrella, allowing for ongoing collaboration between all professionals involved with the individual.  Research supports the fact that this level of team coordination results in more targeted and effective delivery of services and higher levels of success for the recipient.  Both TERI and Crimson Center are well known for the quality of services they provide.  This merger enhances the options for families seeking the best quality of care and expertise.

  • Can TERI families sign up for new speech/language services through Crimson?

Yes, TERI families can sign up for speech/language services or consultation through TERI Crimson Center.  The first step for those interested is to check with your insurance company to make sure that it covers speech and language therapy.  TERI is already approved by several insurance companies to provide therapy, so the next step will be to determine whether TERI is in network or out of network for your insurance.  If we are out of network, we can work with the insurance company to be added to their list of providers.  While this process may take a little time, we believe the ends will justify the means! Families wishing to private pay for therapy, or those who currently use Regional Center services, can contact our offices at 760-721-1706 or info@teriinc.org for more information.

  • Are these speech & Language services provided in North County?

TERI is adding Speech and Language Pathologists (SLPs) who are interested in joining the TERI Crimson Center team and working in the North County region.  We will use our nonpublic schools in Oceanside and San Marcos as the clinic sites, and we expect these services to be up and running by the end of 2017. Look for further announcements and information about this expansion.

  • Are the services covered by insurance?

This merger expands TERI’s current clinical services to include speech and language therapy funded through insurance or private pay, either in home or in a clinical setting, and including adults as well as children.
