THE TERI THEATER & PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAM

Since 2009, The TERI Theater and Performing Arts Program has provided a wide range of experiences for our performers to not only discover new ways to express themselves and communicate with others, but to educate the community at large about the gifts within each of us. Our performers’ gifts are showcased via original live performances in community theaters, as well as entertaining schools and assisted living facility audiences with outreach education focusing on abilities awareness. From the grace of wheelchair ballet to improvisation, from puppetry to pirate games, TERI has woven a rich tapestry of skill and confidence-building while ensuring that above all, our performers have fun.

The 200 seat Bornemann Theater will provide an exciting new venue for TERI Players productions as well as working professionals to debut new works and play host to special events for the greater community. Weekly class instruction and exercises include music, singing/sign language, pantomime, storytelling, character development, magic tricks, and an understanding of stage terminology. Drama techniques are successfully used to teach life skills and model real-life situations through role-playing. While practicing movement, body, and spatial awareness, our performing arts students also gain self-confidence and expand their capacity to effectively communicate, often without words, with the world around them.
