The
TERI Learning Academy serves students with learning and developmental
disabilities, 6 to 22 years of age. The Learning Academy provides
vocational, academic, daily living skills, and behavior management
instruction to students whose maladaptive behavior problems or special
needs preclude placement in the public school special education
classroom structure. The Learning Academy is designed to be
a program of last resort and transitional in nature. Intensive
behavioral supports are provided to each student with the goal to
move the student back to less intensive settings as appropriate.
Included, as part of the regular curriculum, is individualized
consultation for physical therapy, nursing, occupational therapy,
speech therapy, and psychological services. California State
Standards are utilized as outlined and appropriate per the IEP.
Curriculum materials are multi-modal and derived from a variety
of resources to include textbooks, teacher-made materials, Internet
resources, workbooks, etc..
The
Learning Academy is specifically designed to provide one-on-one
educational and therapeutic programs to students whose behavior
precludes their inclusion in public school or other private programs.
Daily schedules are specifically designed to meet each student's
individualized needs. Students are provided with instruction
in community settings at least weekly, as well as offered sensory
integration therapy, social skills training, therapeutic equestrian
services, music therapy, swimming therapy, and are offered the unique
opportunity for structured transition into The Country School, or
upon graduation, into our Adult Day Program.
