Helping Students Realize Their Potential

In August of 2001, TERI expanded its educational services to children with the purchase of The Country School, located in San Marcos. The Country School is both a private and a non-public school serving a maximum of 36 students with Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities or other forms of mild to moderate disabilities that affect learning and social skills. Students follow California Standards for curriculum design and delivery, and are funded either privately or through their home school districts.
The Country School assists children in meeting individual goals by offering a comprehensive program with a strong focus on reading, writing, mathematics, social skills, the arts, and social sciences. We serve as a transition site for children from the TERI Learning Academy who no longer require the intensive levels of educational and behavioral support, yet will benefit from a safe, personalized remedial setting prior to, or in lieu of, reintegration at a public school campus. The Country School is a k-12 diploma granting educational institution licensed by the State of California.
About Our Program
Teachers and support staff work together to provide our students with the skills and strategies to succeed. A teacher/student ratio of 1:9 allows for the rigor in the classroom as well as supported peer interaction. Teachers work together with the classroom aides, speech and language pathologist, and occupati

Students benefit from a social-cognitive approach for social skills, which is integrated into the entire school day. Improved “social thinking” skills help students become better communicators and ultimately help them have more successful relationships.
The Country School offers children an alternative path to their final destination - a safe haven where students can regain their self worth and create a bright future filled with endless possibilities.
Our program has 4 separate classrooms and serve 3rd-12th graders. The Country School includes elementary, middle school, high school, and practical skills classes with diploma granting educational institution licensed by the State of California. Also serves students who will receive certificates of completion.

About Our Staff
The Country School Staff is dedicated to meeting the diverse and individual needs of our students. We believe in the intimate learning environment (a maximum of 36 students school-wide, 9 students per class) that the Country School provides. All of our teachers are credentialed and highly qualified.

Shane Hamiliton,
Country School Principal
This is Shane's fifth year working at The Country School. She was a teacher in the Elementary classroom for four years, and this year she became the Principal. Shane received her Clear Multiple Subject Credential in 2000. Once she was hired by TERI as a one-on-one aide, she discovered her new passion was in Special Education. So she went back to school to get her credentials. Shane now has her Moderate/Severe Education Specialist Instructional Credential and she is currently pursuing her Masters in Special Education.
Shane has learned so much from working with her students and wonderful families. She believes that every student has the right to a valuable and rewarding education. She also feels it is our duty as educators to provide students with tools to achieve this. Shane loves her job and looks forward to coming to school every day!
