About SoCal
We started SoCal because we believe in three things:
- EVERYONE has a story to tell
- There are many ways to tell a story
- People need to hear stories told by storytellers with autism and developmental disabilities
SoCal is an organization that encourages and supports storytelling groups for teens and adults (16 years and older) with developmental disabilities. We have several goals:
- To increase public awareness of the abilities, interests, and stories of people with autism and developmental disabilities.
- To provide an organization that can offer guidance and resources to storytelling groups.
- To host an annual StoryFest where storytellers can participate, win prizes, and meet other people who have similar interests.
- To provide a network for storytellers and StoryShare, a place where their stories can be collected, stored, and shared.
- To enable ALL people, regardless of their communication abilities, the opportunity to tell their stories.
