Krysti DeZonia:
Imagine that you have a son who has Autism and behavior disorders so severe he cannot attend a public school. Imagine that you, his mom or dad, have just about given up hope that anyone can help him or the rest of your family. Imagine finding a school where he is welcome; where the only reason he is sent home is if he is sick; and where you have access to people who can help you find solutions. This is the school I have run for 15 years that is part of the agency—TERI—where I have worked for the last 30 years. My school is called the TERI Learning Academy and its located in Oceanside, California. In my job, I watch kids that “no one could help” become kids who are capable and productive. I watch families who have given up hope realize that that a happy life is something they can attain. I work with people who see only see what is possible and kids who accept me just as I am. I work at an agency that is building a Center for Research and Life Planning so that families everywhere can experience what our students and families experience. There simply is no better job. It would be a privilege to share it with you.
